WHATS YOUR TYPE?
There are a few factors that you should consider when choosingwhich type of font you use to get your message across. Most importantly, they must be easy to read from variable distances using clean and simple bold fonts, which have been proven most effective. Ornate and sans serif typefaces can be difficult to read, reducing the effectiveness of a design. Very fine typefaces will fade into a background, overweight typefaces lose their basic shape, and the overcrowding or kerning of type tend to make the text appear to stream together.

Once a font is chosen, there are a few other variables to consider. Be sure to have adequate spacing between letters, words and lines. Also, words comprised of all upper case characters tend to run together making the copy difficult to read. A combination of both upper and lower case characters are generally easier to read. The actual size of the copy should also be considered and tested prior to production. You should keep the less is more approach when choosing fonts and not use more than two different fonts per design. Using several different fonts can clutter a design.
